I stopped using the reasoning book way early on. Those canned answers didn't work too well. I remember reading from it to the householders. They always looked like.... "uh yeah thanks, dude."

Reasoning from the Scripture book and new light on generation don't add up
by wasblind ineveryone listen up if you still have your" reasoning from the scriptures" book get them out turn to page 234 and read the last sentence in the definition.
where it says: the generation who was alive in 1914 would be the generation to see the end.
then turn to page 242 on the top of the page where they say it's not gonna be another generation to experience this.

I didn't realize there was a revised edition of the worship book. I agree with Teel. All blame gets placed back on the publishers' shoulders. I remember several years ago they told the elders that if a publisher gets arrested for crossing the no trespassing signs it was the publishers fault. The witnesses were not to call the society for any help with the authorities.
So much for help from the mothership. They show time and time again that they will leave the witnesses high and dry without a thought.

I keep hearing , "I'm not expecting miracles", or similar statements about Obama. Most people don't believe he is capable of miracles. But what exactly is expected of him? What would his supporters like to see him and his administration accomplish? What change does he have a reasonable shot at?

Anyone Else Ever Experience This?
by thraxer68 inso as you da'd, were df'd, faded, or just mentally let go of everything you believed for so long, did you experience this weird transition phase of an "identitylessness"?
i think this might only apply to people who were "strong" in the faith.
as a strong witness, im sure those of us who were really took to heart and mind the things that we learned and counsel that the society produced.

"what replaced the WBTS teachings that had guided you for so long?"
Nothing. The WBTS loaded us down with so much garbage. Then they ask "where else are you going to go and get all of this crap?"
There is a deep loss when you stop believing it. But, it's not real. Most people have a moral compass that didn't get handed to them by WT. And for that matter, most of the world functions just fine without christianity. There's a scripture that talks about people without law being guided by the law of their hearts. I discovered that I don't need religion to be a wholesome and valuable person.

It's amazing the cognitive dissonance....
by notverylikely inso...i'm a born in, fading, can't break away with a df or da for various reasons.
as some of you may know from posts i have made, i am pretty much a total non-beleiver is god in general and a full throttle "this is bullshit" believer for the watchtower.. i've been doing some work for a friend of mine who is in a similar situation as me with the exception that he is not sure if he beleives in god, but he does believe the watchtower is bs (he's a born-in too, his wife, his family, all his friends are wt people, etc).. so, since i have been working with him we have had some interesting conversations about the wt and their bullshit.
most of his "friends" are people i know, but he has known them a lot longer.

NVL it is absolutely amazing. It boggles the mind that those who don't follow the "moral" rules of WT are some of the most fear-filled associates of the borg. They can be extremely judgemental also. It's almost as if they give themselves license to break the rules as long as they "give Jehovah something to work with." As long as they have that fear they feel they have some faith.
If one does not pull apart the foundation of their beliefs (the FDS, universal sovereignty issues, etc), they will be forever trapped in the grip of WT.

The New Jeremiah Book
by zoiks inmy mother-in-law just got back from her convention and gave us the new releases, this jeremiah book included.
just a quick scan of it has revealed a few gems.. first of all, there is a chapter entitled, "you can benefit from the new covenant" (italics theirs).
i am not a christian, but i understand the beef that many will have with this entire chapter.
